My Favorite Delivery!

Hi everyone! I’m Lauren and I’m a guest blogger this week. Yay! I’m famous :)

I just wanted to share a quick story with you about my family. I’m really close to my brother and sister-in-law (Aaron and Emily) so when they told me they were expecting, I was elated! I’ve always wanted to be an aunt.

As you can imagine, when I got the call that Emily was in labor, I left Chicago immediately and booked it down to Indianapolis where they live. A few short (well, short-ish) hours later, little Quinn Michael came into the world. It was incredible. Being the avid photographer that I am, I grabbed my iPhone and snapped a pic of the new baby boy.

Now, a lot of our friends and family are spread around the country, so I wanted to make a point to make sure that all of them got to be a part of this momentous occasion. My friend Hannah had mentioned that she used Walgreens Same Day Pickup photo cards for her bridal shower. So, I sent the picture to my Walgreens Photo account right from the hospital and picked out a design on my phone in the waiting room.

That night, I walked to a Walgreens around the corner and picked up their birth announcement photo cards I had ordered literally an hour or two before. Super quick and easy! Because the Same Day Pickup photo cards come with envelopes, I was able to send them out the next morning. In the next two days all of our friends and family got the announcements, and every one of them felt like they got to be a part of something truly magnificent.

Thank you Walgreens! You’ve made me one very grateful aunt!

A life in pictures – how prints tell your story

In my very humble opinion, prints are the best way to surround yourself with your favorite memories and reminders of loved ones. There are lots of reasons to print – some I’m sure you already know, and some that you might not have thought of. Today, I’m sharing what I did with my 4×6 prints, and how I found a unique and simple way to tell my story.

One fun thing you can do with your prints is to make a timeline in your home. Last weekend, I picked up some corkboard to mount in my basement, and printed out my 4×6 prints at Walgreens. A print timeline lets you show off your favorite memories and stories visually. Making a timeline with prints is also immediate- it’s a quick and easy project for a lazy weekend.

For my timeline, I focused on pictures from the past year. (it was waaaaaaay past time to get hundreds of pictures off of my camera) I’ve also found that making enlargements of some of the MOST important pics (there’s one from my friend’s wedding where I’m doing a dance that would make Tina Turner blush) is a fun way to emphasize the big moments.

Think about where else you could incorporate prints into your home décor…what about turning some of your favorite photos into:

  • Prints with Borders? It’s simple, they look fantastic in a frame and the borders make the personality of the shot shine. They’re perfect for a mantle or a hallway.
  • Collage Prints- another option Walgreens features that shows off up to 20 of your favorite images on one print. It’s a fun way to stay inspired by your favorite pics and people.

What are some other fun and inspiring uses you’ve found for prints? How do you tell your story?

Happy printing!

Making Photo Books!

I hope your holidays were amazing and fun filled. No doubt, 2011 was an incredible year. I’d have to say that my favorite memory was my trip to Peru- the camera was out the entire time. Of course, that leaves one question…

What did I do with all the pictures?

Simple answer: I made a photo book! Of course this seems like a momentous task…but it’s really easy. This is how I tackled it.

I uploaded my camera and phone pics to The new and improved site makes it really simple to upload, tag and organize. You can also always bring your camera into the store and upload them at the photo kiosk if you’re not sure and need some extra help.

Then, I organized all of my pics based on who is in them, where they were shot, etc. Just remember- “Who, what, where and when.”

Now it’s time for the fun part- fitting all of those memories into a photo book. I love the Custom Cover photo book option – it allows me to feature the best shot of the vacation up front. Walgreens also has hundreds of themes and page layouts to further personalize your photo book. You can also turn your pics into a brag book to give to your friends- they’ll appreciate that MUCH more than seeing a Facebook album!

Hopefully, these simple steps help you well on the way to crafting photo book.
