Marina Hits a Birthday Milestone!

Hi guys! My name is Taneisha and for all our bilingual readers, “me llamo Taneisha” (sadly, there’s no Spanish equivalent for ‘Taneisha’). I’m new to the Photo team and very excited to be here.  There’s much going on this week and little time to waste. Let’s get down to business!

After turning the glorious age of 21, no one truly gets excited about birthdays. Sure, there’s loads of sugary cake, but most of the fun was had being a kid and getting a myriad of world-altering, mind-shattering presents that you groveled negotiated dreamt about obsessively for months. Birthdays are low on the priority list of life.

Well… not at Photo by Walgreens!

Birthdays are always a cause for an office celebration! Our fearless leader, Marina, is making a huge splash with a milestone birthday. We won’t tell you her age (shhh… because a lady never tells) but we can tell you, whatever age you’re thinking, you are probably wrong.

Let’s do a little digging, shall

we?

1.)   We all know you love blasting bass-heavy house music. All too well. Name your number one song to listen to during your daily morning jog. It’s this song “Some Slip” by Gaiser. Listen to this beat, I love it. (Editor’s note: I wish I could mimic the beat Marina made but you’ll have to trust me when I say it was adorably hysterical.)

2.)   Freaky Friday! You have the chance to be 17 again. Is there any sage advice you want to give your rebellious teenage self?  There isn’t any real advice I would give. We all learn through our experiences and you don’t really know what lies ahead. If I had to say something, it would be… make sure to eat as much as you can because once you’re my age, you won’t be able to anymore. It’s very sad.

3.)   On my very first day, I saw you received a stuffed squirrel as a birthday present. Obviously, this is not the first stuffed animal you’ve obtained.  *Laughs* I have many … “elements” to my home. I collect a lot of stuff. I have a warthog skull with the tusks intact; I have a whole vertebra of a giraffe. My house is like that of a creepy curator.

4.)   Tell me your stance on birthdays in exactly nine words. Live it up. It’s not going to last forever.

5.)   You were born in Zimbabwe, scoured the streets of San Paolo, currently reside in the Windy City… You are truly the embodiment of a “jetsetter”. I could name seven more places just from your pictures alone! Is there anywhere else in the world you have left on your list to photograph?  Definitely. I still want to go to India, Argentina, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. But I am already going to Amsterdam this year so that’s a start, I guess.

6.)   You have your adorable, squeezable loves Dr. Clance and Papoo. Any chance of adding  doggie number three to the list?  A resounding no. I can’t take anymore dogs… but I am a hospice for dogs. I love dogs, all they want is love and food and snacks. Part of my new year’s resolution is to buy a lottery ticket every week and if I win,… I want to open up a dog haven in Arizona for all the little stray dogs. I hope!

Isn’t she something? You should wish Marina a happy snappy birthday in our comments section. She’s quite a lady!

And as a little riddle for our readers, we actually put Marina’s birthday in the post! Were you paying attention? Read it again and see if you can guess her real age… we’re still not telling though!
